I love statistics. Looking at and analyzing statistics for crime, traffic, finances, climate, natural disasters, etc. in real life is so much fun - so I had a spare half hour and created the following line graphs for Wiimmfi bans. General available data goes back to 05/14/2015, although from then through 07/21 it only shows the permanent bans. Starting on 07/22 it shows other types as well (like timed bans). I created the following line graph based on the amount of various bans on Wiimmfi per week (daily showed too many irregularities). I also used data for automatic systems bans over the last 30 days, although the week ending 08/20 is incomplete. I've also created graphs relating to Wiimmfi stuff in the past, for those curious.
Since the graph itself does not show the numbers (unless you hover over each point with the cursor on the graph website), I'll list them below:
For the week ending...
05/21: Permanent Bans (21)
05/28: Permanent Bans (21)
06/04: Permanent Bans (5)
06/11: Permanent Bans (11)
06/18: Permanent Bans (15)
06/25: Permanent Bans (16)
07/02: Permanent Bans (6)
07/09: Permanent Bans (11)
07/16: Permanent Bans (13); All Mod Bans/kicks (13)
07/23: Permanent Bans (10); All Mod Bans/kicks (12)
07/30: Permanent Bans (2); All Mod Bans/kicks (3)
08/06: Permanent Bans (8); All Mod Bans/kicks (8)
08/13: Permanent Bans (4); All Mod Bans/kicks (6)
08/20: Permanent Bans (9); All Mod Bans/kicks (22); Automatic System Bans (10)
08/27: Permanent Bans (11); All Mod Bans/kicks (48); Automatic System Bans (12)
09/03: Permanent Bans (9); All Mod Bans/kicks (31); Automatic System Bans (6)
09/10: Permanent Bans (5); All Mod Bans/kicks (30); Automatic System Bans (17)
09/17: Permanent Bans (8); All Mod Bans/kicks (28); Automatic System Bans (8)
Perhaps this graph can be used by Wiimmfi staff to examine ban effectiveness, trends, new ban system implementations, etc. or just for plain interest like me. This graph unfortunately cannot avoid biases such as repeat offenders getting banned over and over again.
I'd love it if you Wiimmfi people could give me more statistics to crunch (like daily traffic numbers)....
